A TOPIC SENTENCE is the first sentence of a paragraph.  It tells the reader what the paragraph will be about.

Here are some good topic sentences.  Please use them!

• We’ll begin by contrasting the genre of these two pieces.

• Next, let’s examine the similar (but not identical) tones of these famous writings.

• The moods of the two pieces are quite different.

• Finally, Chopin and Brady have very different writing styles.
